Fairytales Do Come True: The story of Queenanne and Katlego

Not all stories have a happy ending, but the story of Queenanne and Katlego is worth telling.

Queenanne and Katlego resided in Mangaung. They were both unemployed and disabled with few opportunities coming their way. Both applied for a learnership with Training Portal and duly started their learnerships during February 2020 after receiving a sponsorship from X-Fuels. The sponsorship comprised the funding of the training cost and a monthly stipend. X-Fuels is a multifaceted national petroleum company with its head-office in Polokwane.

Queenanne and Katlego grabbed the opportunity with both hands, worked hard and successfully completed the 12-months learnership. During the course of the learnership both received valuable theoretical and workplace exposure and the stipend greatly assisted them to support themselves financially during this time.

After completion of the learnership, X-Fuels decided to give the two learners a chance of the lifetime by offering them both permanent employment in Polokwane. X-Fuels assisted them to relocate from Mangaung to Polokwane and both have become valuable staff members of X-Fuels.

It has been a great honour for Training Portal to have been involved in this project and special thanks is extended to X-Fuels for their huge contribution to the lives of Queenanne and Katlego and in making South Africa a better place.
