Neo Rose Lekoeneha is a young woman with a very clearly understanding of her personal pathways for success.
While, Neo, the middle of three children, was born with a medical condition called dwarfism, she has never let this disability command her destiny. She matriculated in 2018 from Martie du Plessis High School in Bloemfontein, but unlike so many other matriculants she soon realised that university was not the only possible “next step” after completing high school.
Open to employment in either an existing company or government department, or to exploring entrepreneurial opportunities, Neo chose to undertake two learnerships with Training Portal as the best possible foundation for her future career. She began her first learnership with a course in Business Practice in 2019. This course not only introduced her to fundamental business practices but also a number of computer skills such as typing, corresponding vie email, PowerPoint presentations and conducting efficient searches through the internet. Her exposure to information technology encouraged Neo to apply for a second learnership, namely in End User Computing. To this day, Neo described this introduction to computing as the absolute highlight of her two learnerships.
She avidly recommends learnerships such as those she had completed based on both being closely aligned with the world of work. Training Portal’s learnerships helped her master an important set of skills that closely correlates with the requirements of the modern workplace. They also encourage an entrepreneurial spirit, independent thinking and a willingness to experiment. That the learnerships are taught by friendly, approachable and knowledgeable staff polished off the entire experience as enjoyable, uplifting and empowering
Today Neo is confident that her learnerships will open doors of opportunity for her, either as a well-trained, confident employee or an entrepreneur who may soon start her open small business.
